Rashmika Mandanna, who once faced backlash from Modi critics for promoting the Atal Setu, has found herself embroiled in controversy once again. This time, the issue began with a statement from a Karnataka MLA, who claimed that Rashmika was invited to a film event, but she refused to attend.
Following this claim, Rashmika’s team denied the allegations. On the other hand, the event organizers asserted they had solid proof that a formal invitation had indeed been sent to her.
A new twist emerged when the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka made a statement. He said, “Take this either as a request or a warning — if the government stops granting shooting permissions, films will stop being made and the entire film industry will face a crisis.” He also added that he knows exactly “which nuts and bolts need tightening.”
As soon as such sharp remarks surfaced from the opposition, a reaction from the BJP was inevitable. Actress Kangana Ranaut jumped into the controversy, saying, “We artists are protected by the divine himself.”
Now, the big question is what new turn this controversy will take — Will Rashmika break her silence? Is a fresh conflict brewing between the government and the film industry?
Showing allegiance to a party is not new to film stars. While some actors openly announce their political ideologies, many choose to keep quiet.
Bollywood has seen names like Akshay Kumar, who was even seen sharing special moments with PM Modi and other BJP leaders. Amitabh Bachchan, who once had close ties with the Congress now remains largely neutral in public appearances. But his wife is now Rajya Sbha MP from SP.
Shatrughan Sinha, a veteran actor, shifted from the BJP to the Congress and later joined the TMC and is now MP. Another prominent actor-turned-politician, Ravi Kishan, began his political journey with the Congress before switching over to the BJP. He is now a sitting MP.
The lines between the film industry and politics often blur, making every controversy — like the one surrounding Rashmika Mandanna — more layered than it appears.
